Kate Rew's sadly had to withdraw for personal reasons but we're delighted Rob Fryer has been able to step into her swimming cossie. Rob is chair of the world's only river swimming club (Farleigh) and of the River & Lake Swimming Association. He's also the author of The Wild Swimming Guide. He assiduously seeks out traditional wild swimming sites, believing that, like a treasured heirloom, knowing the "provenance" of a site adds to the enjoyment of swimming there. As a local councillor and Mayor of Warminster Rob is a tireless campaigner for the rights of wild swimmers. Rob confesses to being a a summer swimmer, so you will not see him breaking the the ice - that is unless he's indulging in his other passion of 'wild skating'. Read more about Rob's campaign for river access featured on BBC Inside Out and listen to his swim in the River Frome with BBC Wiltshire.

PS Kate says the Outdoors Swimming Society are keen to know if you have any favourite wild swimming spots in the Peak District that they don't know about already. Do please drop a pin on their Wild Swim website and share. |

In FREE FALL world champion freediver Guillaume Nery "BASE jumps" head first into Dean's Blue Hole, the deepest blue hole in the world. This surreal short was filmed entirely on breath hold by fellow French freediver Julie Gautier. The sensational viral hit caused controversy, though Nery insists it's an artistic project. |
