Talk Gary Connery

This summer Gary Connery became the first person ever to jump out of a helicopter and land without a parachute, using his wingsuit to land in a pile of cardboard boxes!

More recently he doubled for none other than the Queen when 'she' BASE jumped into the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony with James Bond!

Gary competed for Britain in white water kayaking from 13-15 years old. He competed for Britain for 5 years as a downhill ski racer.

For 4 years he served in the parachute regiment. He?s been a professional stunt performer since 1997 and now co-ordinates and performs stunts for TV & film.

He?s completed 890+ skydives, been BASE jumping since February 1994 and done completed 450 BASE jumps including Nelsons Column, the London Eye and Eiffel Tower. He has been wingsuit flying for 8 years and began using wingsuits for BASE jumping in September 2010.

He?s also an Ultra Marathon runner specialising in 100+ mile events across Europe.

Listen back to Gary talking to Leighton Morris on High Peak Radio's Breakfast Show.  They talk about how qualifying to become a stuntman, his gruelling training regime and what BASE jumping is really like.

Following Gary's talk we'll show ...

I Believe I Can Fly (40 mins)
Seb Montaz and his crew of skyliners are back - this time on an epic trip through Europe highlining between Parisian skyscrapers, gorges in the South of France and Norwegian fjords, parachuting over waterfalls and cartwheeling off cliffs.
Director / Producer Sébastien Montaz-Rosset (French, 2011)

Reel Rock: Sketchy Andy (20 mins)
He has a tremendous amount of talent, but no fear. It's part insanity, part genius. Slack lining pioneer Andy Lewis solos the world's longest highlines going harder and faster combining climbing, slack and BASE.
Director/Producer Nick Rosen and Peter Mortimer (American, 2011)
