We're proud and delighted that Buxton Adventure Festival speaker Gordon Stainforth's book 'Fiva: An Adventure That Went Wrong' has been short-listed for the prestigious Banff Mountain Book Competition.

He's one of five finalists in the Mountain & Wilderness Literature category and follows his recent nomination for the Boardman Tasker Prize.

The Banff organisers told Gordon that 2012 was exceptional year for quality work and that they've spent months reviewing more than 125 titles in 4 categories.

Gordon says:  "I'm over the moon.  To be short-listed for both prizes is just fantastic.  I'm so honoured - especially in the face of such strong competition."

Gordon's book 'The Cuillin' won the 1994 Banff Mountain Book Festival Best Book of Mountain Image and the Outdoor Writers? Guild Award for Excellence.

The prize will be announced on November 1st.

You can hear Gordon talk at the Buxton Adventure Festival on Sunday 21st October.
