Light Line: Paraglider Jean Baptiste Chandelier specialises in flying close to the ground, skimming houses and people to give the audience watching the sense that they too are flying. Filmed on the Danish coast, this beautiful and understated short film of Chandelier's unique style is an original take on the sport of paragliding.
Road Bike Party: UK trials bike legend Martyn Ashton takes the £10k carbon road bike, used by Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins to win the Tour de France, for a ride with a difference. Some of the toughest stunts you'll ever see pulled on a carbon road bike and amazingly only one puncture during filming.
Fathoms Left To Fall: One epic day of huge surf during March 2012 at Mullaghmore Head, County Sligo, featuring top riders like Gabe Davies. Director Chris McClean makes real virtue of the long distance lens to give a stunning sense of scale. Surfing magazine sums it up nicely: “Cinematography to make you feel like you’re there — grab your life vest, your thickest suit and your balls to get in character.”
Extreme Czech Parkours
Urban gymastics from the Czech pro parkour team Urban Sense. Hair-raising jumps, long-distance leaps, synchronised flips and dance-like duets to a hip-hop orchestral soundtrack make this classy short seem more like ballet than free running.
Of Souls & Water: The Shapeshifter: The supernatural… does it exist? The curious explore unbound by restrictions of place and mind, and perhaps discover things we haven’t understood. Whitewater kayaking legend Ben Marr shreds the upper reaches of Quebec, pushing limits to new and undiscovered levels. Winner of 2013 Sheffield Adventure Film Festival Best Artistic Film Award.
Silvia - Winter Trails with Matt Hunter: Canadian big mountain free rider Matt Hunter gets creative with a power drill in his shed to go and shred his local trails on studded tyres in the snow. Possibly the coolest night ride ever? (PS Before you get any ideas they got tyre studding expertise from GP Moto!)
Moonwalk: Adrenaline meets art in this breath-taking short. Free solo rock climber, BASE jumper and wingsuit pioneer Dean Potter highlining untethered on the summit of Cathedral Peak in Yosemite National Park. Potter recently told National Geographic: “I am completely confident with my ability to catch the line if I were to fall. I’ve practiced this catch move successfully for the past 19 years.” (Handy when you're 10,911 feet above the ground).
Unicorn Sashimi: Felt Soul Media are best known for their beautiful films about fishing. Last winter they saved up, bought their dream camera and teamed up with Sweetgrass Productions go hunt the mythical Hokkaido unicorn. The creature proved elusive so they went skiing and instead captured the magic of the Japanese snow surfers. Winner of 2013 Sheffield Adventure Film Festival Best Artistic Film (Silver).
A New Perspective: David Lama, Peter Ortner and Corey Rich climb the 6,251m Nameless Tower in Pakistan, also known as Trango Tower, part of the Karakoram mountain range. The incredible footage was partly shot with remote-controlled helicopter cameras using drone technology more usually associated with US spy planes than climbing expeditions.
Yosemite Range Of Light : Photographer Shawn Reeder fell in love with Yosemite National Park when he serendipitously won a trip there when he was 18. Two years ago he became obsessed with shooting time-lapse photography and has now merged his two passions into this one stunning short film.
