THE FIRST EVER STRAIGHT LINE JOURNEY
FROM LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS
This summer the Beeline Britain team - supported by Prince Harry’s Endeavour Fund - kayaked, cycled, mountain biked and hiked their way across the UK, completing two record breaking sea crossings on route, including the longest open sea kayak crossing in UK waters; 34 hours of non-stop kayaking over 200km.
The team of four included a serving RAF Aircrew, a retired Army Captain and Team GB Paralympian, a professional kayak coach and the first Welsh woman to summit Mount Everest.
Two of the team - RAF Crewman Ian O'Grady (pictured right) and Royal Engineers Captain Nick Beighton (who represented Great Britain in the 2012 Paralympics, missing a medal by just 0.2 seconds in the Trunk and Arms Mixed Double Scull) will tell us how they managed to complete this audacious and challenging route in 28 days.
Watch the trailer for the forthcoming film 'As The Crow Flies', premiering in November. Filmmaker Ian Burton from Image Impossible will be at BAF to show exclusive clips of the team's incredible journey.
The team continues their fundraising for BLESMA, the limbless veterans charity. Ian and Nick have kindly agreed that the Buxton Adventure Festival will donate their speaker fee to the charity.
