UK’s finest fell runners headline Buxton Adventure Festival
3rd Oct 2018
MULTIPLE British fell running champion Colin Donnelly will headline the Exodus Travels Buxton Adventure Festival on Tuesday, 13th November 2018.
The Scottish runner has also finished second in the World Mountain Running Trophy and set numerous records in iconic British mountain races – many of which still stand.
During the late 80s, the Cambuslang Harriers member set one of the fastest times ever in the Ben Nevis Race, won the British Fell Running Championships three times consecutively and won the Snowdon Race.
He set a still standing record for the traverse of the Welsh 3000s, with a time of 4:19, won the Welsh 1000m Peaks Race multiple times, won the over-40 title at the World Masters Mountain Running Championships, and still holds the course records for the Buckden Pike Race and Shelf Moor Race.
Colin has also completed the Bob Graham, Paddy Buckley and Ramsay Rounds, as well as the Scottish 4,000ers, South Wales 2,000ers traverse, the Manx 1,000ers and the Nant Gwrtherin to Conwy Traverse, as well as multiple Munros, Donalds, Corbetts and Wainrights.
Still racing today, he is currently the UK Cross Country champion for the 55-60 age group.
At the Buxton Adventure Festival, he will talk about his running career and show a short award-winning film of his Welsh 3000s run.
He’ll be joined by support speaker Judith Jepson, a working mother-of-three who took to running during a mid-life crisis and went on to become the multiple British and English Veteran Fellrunning Champion.
Matt Heason, Buxton Adventure Festival Director, said: “Colin’s fell running accomplishments speak for themselves. He’s pretty much done it all, setting records and becoming a multiple champion along the way. If there’s a fell running race in the UK, you can bet he’s not only participated but most likely won it at some point.
“In his talk, we’ll find out where his talent comes from and what motivated him to become one of the best fell runners the UK has ever produced.
“We’re also delighted to introduce Judith Jepson, who will give a light-hearted and motivating account of how she went from someone totally disinterested in sport to a multiple veteran fell running champion.”
The event takes place at 7:30pm on Tuesday, 13th November 2018, at the Buxton Opera House, Water Street, Buxton. Book your tickets online or call the Box Office on 01298 72190
