Record-breaking adventurer Dave Cornthwaite headlines BAF

20th Apr 2018

MADCAP adventurer Dave Cornthwaite will headline the Lowepro Buxton Adventure Festival on Tuesday, 15th May 2018.

The record-breaker is best known for Expedition1000, an ongoing mission to complete 25 different non-motorised journeys of over 1000 miles in distance each. He has completed 14 so far – the latest, a 1,500 mile trip along the tortuous coast of Norway on a cycle-boat, also known as a Schiller Bike.

Dave will be talking about this and his other adventures on Expedition1000 as well as his upcoming plans for the remaining journeys. His motivating and inspirational talk will also cover his SayYesMore movement, which aims to encourage others to take on their own adventures.

He will be joined by support speaker Kajsa Tylen, who spent 365 days on a bicycle in a successful attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the Furthest Distance Cycled in a Year by a woman, a record which had stood for nearly 80 years. She clocked up 52,025 km (32,326 miles).

Matt Heason, Buxton Adventure Festival Director, said: “Dave Cornthwaite gave one of the first ever talks at BAF way back in 2013. Since then he’s continued to push the boundaries of mad expeditions. He’ll be talking about his many other crack-pot adventures that he’s not been able to turn down since deciding to say “Yes” more!

“Our support speaker is also a “Yes!” person, having agreed to tackle the 80-year-old world record for furthest distance cycled in a year by a women. In Kajsa’s talk, she explains the thought process she went through before deciding to take on this epic challenge, and how experiences prior to it helped to shape her future.”

The event takes place at 7:30pm on Tuesday, 15th May 2018, at the Old Club House, Water Street, Buxton. Book your tickets online or call the Box Office on 01298 72190.

The Buxton Adventure Festival in association with LowePro is also supported by Exodus Travel, Buxton Opera House, Buxton Advertiser, The Old Hall Hotel, Heason Events.
