Arc'teryx Adventure Shot AVs

20th Mar 2012

One of the most exciting events at ShAFF each year is the Arc'teryx Adventure Shot. The evening is hosted by Niall Grimes and Alex Ekins. Niall starts things off with a kind of quiz that was described by one audience member as a bus-crash! That's kind of the point. His humour is certainly unusual! With little structure, plenty of prizes, and heaps of hilarity the audience then head into a short break and generally head to the bar. Alex then takes over to introduce five photographers. Each represents a different discipline / sport, and each has five minutes or so to impress the audience and judges with an audio-visual spectacular on the big screen and sound system. This year the five photographers were Andy Day representing Parkour, Cheryl King representing Cycling, Gavin Newman representing Cave Diving, Lucask Warzecha representing Climbing, and Jordan Tybon representing Slacklining. Jordan had previously been selected from a strong contingent of open competitors who had submitted examples of their work to ShAFF. We were very pleased that he had taken the time to fly over from Berlin for the weekend. Sponsored by Arc'teryx the competition is fierce, with £500 in cash up for grabs for the winner, and a hefty amount of Arc'teryx kit for the runners up.

You can also check out the 2010 and  2011 entries here.

On the night Jordan triumphed by a whisker, with Gavin Newman in second place and Andy Day in third, with Cheryl King and Lucask Warzecha taking equal fourth. Below are four of the AV’s.
