The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival showcases adventure, sport and travel films from around the world.
It also includes talks from adventurers about their journeys – and has now gathered support from some of Britain’s most famous lovers of the outdoors.

Mexborough-born actor and mountaineer Brian Blessed: said: “I recommend enjoying an armchair adventure at ShAFF.
“It showcases the finest independent adventure film-making in some of the toughest conditions and most remote environments in the world.
“Experience the drama for yourself as the adrenaline junkies push themselves to the limits.”
TV presenter Julia Bradbury, a former pupil of King Edward VII School in Broomhill, Sheffield, said: “I grew up in Sheffield and my passion for the countryside and love of travelling comes from walking the Derbyshire hills with my Dad. ShAFF has it all – exhilarating action, awe-inspiring stories and stunning landscapes.
“Right on the doorstep of the Peak District, a weekend at ShAFF will inspire you to get up, get out and go for it.”
TV presenter Ben Fogle, who has rowed the Atlantic Ocean and raced to the South Pole, said: “ShAFF is proof there’s no blueprint in life saying go to school, go to university, get a sensible job and a mortgage.
“Be inspired to follow your heart and your instincts.”
And explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, said: “Unless you are on top of Everest, there are few better places to be on a March weekend.”
The seventh annual festival takes place at the Showroom Cinema, Paternoster Row, Sheffield city centre, from Friday to Sunday, March 9 to 11.
Highlights include Unbreakable, a film about four runners in a 100-mile foot race, and a talk by 1984 Olympic marathon bronze medallist and London Marathon winner Charlie Spedding.
Lissa Cook, festival marketing manager, said: “Ticket sales are going really well – the best at this stage ever compared to previous years
“Certain screenings are already looking like they’ll be sold out pretty soon, so we urge people to book in advance if there’s a film or speaker they want to see, but the beauty of ShAFF is there’s a range of screenings as well as talks, exhibitions and music so we’d hope there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
