ShAFF "one hell of a weekend", Blades Magazine
17th Jan 2012
Film festivals are a weird thing. People gather at some place to watch nothing but movies all weekend. I do that 52 weekends a year, comfortably from my sofa at home. I don’t need people around me to feel like I’m getting out into the world, all they’ll do is make me feel awkward and take my armrests. But if that’s your thing then the 2012 Sheffield Adventure Film Festival is for you.
Starting (and ending) the weekend of March 9th, the festival will be screening 75 of the most epic adventure, travel and extreme sports films on 4 big screens at UK’s biggest independent cinema. Sheffield’s art deco Showroom Cinema was voted the best cultural venue in the region and will host the films, talks and lectures from world-class climbers, runners and riders, special activities, live music, kit sales and competitions that make up one hell of a weekend. Not only will one ticket gain you access to all of the above, but also a multi-film screening with a mash-up of selections from the high-energy “Adrenaline showing” to the awe-inspiring “Adventure Medley”. Just one look at the trailer gives you a taste of the daredevils and dreamers that participate in the festival and the insanity of their passion. It prepares you for what you should expect: inspiration, escapism and…is that guy highlining off a cliff?! Read more on Blades magazine
