Sweaty Jasmin

Ultrarunner Jasmin Paris has been breaking records left, right and centre recently. In June 2016 she claimed the fastest time ever for the Ramsay Round – at 16 hours 13 minutes – which links 24 Lochaber Munros in a gruelling 60-mile loop. She has also claimed the fastest female time for the Bob Graham Round, covering 66 miles across 42 of the highest peaks in the Lake District in 15 hours and 24 minutes. The weekend warrior’s other outstanding achievements, besides fitting training and world-class performances around a full-time job, include: a new record in last year's Fellsman (11hrs 9mins) and coming second in the 5-day, 180-mile Berghaus Dragon's Back Race.

Jasmin will talk about her record breaking achievements and the preparation she undertakes before any big race – including training and nutrition – as well as how the runs actually worked out on the day. She will also take a look back at getting into fell running and fitting everything around a busy schedule.

You can learn the most when things don’t go to plan ……..

Don’t get me wrong, 2016 has been a fantastic year for me as an Ultra runner. Two particular achievements I am most proud of and will remember for years to come have been a silver medal at the National Ultra Trail Championships and a team bronze medal at the Trail World Championships.

However, I’ve learned a lot this year from when illness meant a DNF, an overslept alarm revolutionised my pre and during race routine, and when a nasty fall changed my race experience.

I hope to pass on some of what I learned from these experiences, and how things not going to plan can sometimes be a blessing in disguise!
